Grant Applications

As a charity, Enrich Abilities is proud to be able to work with and donate funds to innovative and caring Australian charities working at the frontline to relieve poverty and enhance the lives of people with disability and older Australians who are in need.

Each year Enrich Abilities invites applications from public benevolent institutions (PBIs) who are working at the front line and who are suitable recipients for Enrich Abilities grants. The potential recipients are reviewed to determine alignment with Enrich Abilities mission and goals. Enrich Ability works with each successful recipient on the design of their programs to ensure the recipient and Enrich Abilities can work together to meet their common goal of improving the lives of people with a disability or who are aged and in distress.

Grant Process

Enrich Abilities has a two step grant application process:

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest on the link provided on the Enrich Abilities website.
    Expressions of Interest open on 4 February and close 31 March

  2. Invitation to submit an application
    Once Enrich Abilities has reviewed the Expressions of Interest, selected organisations will be invited to submit a full application and to meet with Enrich Abilities.
    Full applications will open on 1 April and close on 15 April

From this point, Enrich Abilities will go through its own process of assessment which will include Enrich Abilities Board approval. Successful applicants will be contacted by Enrich Abilities and invited to enter into a Collaboration Agreement which will set out the terms and conditions of the grant.

Range of Grants

A majority of grants are expected to be in the $10,000 - $50,000 range.

Eligibility

Applicants should be a public benevolent institution (PBI) being a charitable institution whose main purpose is to relieve poverty or distress. Applicants must be registered and recognized by the ACNC and ATO as a subtype of charity.

Grants are intended for community organisations and social enterprises working with the aged or people with a disability in a way that reflects Enrich Abilities priorities and focus areas.

Priority will be given to initiatives that:

  • Relate to the support of people with disability where the NDIS funding does not cover needs.

  • Relate to the support of older care people where the Aged Care funding does not cover needs.

  • Support people who are aged or living with a disability in a home situation and are in need.

  • Services that enhance quality of life in a home situation

Do you fund existing projects?

Yes. Our portfolio encompasses both innovation and evidence-based existing projects.

Do you accept hard copy applications/reports or applications submitted via email?

No. We will only accept applications that have been submitted through our online system.

What happens once the application is received?

You will receive an automated email advising that your application has been submitted. This email will also contain a PDF version of your application as an attachment for your reference.

Note that once applications are submitted, you cannot make any changes.

Your application will then be reviewed. Our team may contact you if further information is required.

Once your application has been assessed, you will be contacted regarding your outcome within 30 days of our Board meeting considering your application.

What am I expected to provide with my application?

Why was my application unsuccessful?


We will endeavour to provide general feedback as to why applications are unsuccessful. However, due to a lack of time and resources, we will not be able to provide detailed feedback regarding your application.

My organisation was awarded a grant, what are my obligations?

All grant recipients must adhere to the Standard Grant Conditions and the terms of their Collaboration Agreement with Enrich Abilities.

Can I use the funding for another project if my orginal one falls through?

If the funding is going to be used for anything other than what is specified in the original application, it needs to be approved by Enrich Abilities.

Does the grant include GST?

Enrich Abilities makes each grant payment as a gift. Enrich Abilities is of the view that it does not receive any material benefit in return for the payment and is not the recipient of a supply. Further, the GST Act provides that making a gift to a non-profit body is not the provision of consideration.

It would, therefore, follow that the grant payment does not constitute consideration for a taxable supply and GST should not be applicable.

In some circumstances, the GST position could be unclear and accordingly, Enrich Abilities recommends that your organisation seeks its own GST advice if it considers it necessary. If your organisation has a contrary opinion to the above, we require you to advise us.

Standard Grant Conditions:

Enrich Abilities strongly believes that the provision of its grant is part of a trusting relationship based on the shared aim of achieving the success of the grant recipient’s program and Enrich Abilities mission.

This means that, among other things (including those set out in the Collaboration Agreement between you and Enrich Abilities):

  • You must use the entire grant exclusively for the program as agreed with Enrich Abilities and described by your application. Grants should not be used for any other purposes without Enrich Abilities consent.

  • The provision of the grant is based on a strong level of trust, openness and mutual commitment in pursuing shared objectives and overcoming obstacles together.

  • You, together with Enrich Abilities, are committed to honest and transparent communication with each other and acknowledge that there should be “no surprises”; as such, you commit to informing Enrich Abilities as soon as practicable about all matters Enrich Abilities should reasonably be made aware of in connection with your program.

  • You must ensure that you, and your employees and agents do not bring Enrich Abilities into disrepute in any way.
