Your NDIS Goals: Let's Shape Your Future Together

What are your goals?

Your NDIS plan is all about helping you achieve what you want in life. That's where goals come in! Goals are the things you're working towards, big or small. Whether it's landing a job, becoming more independent, or simply enjoying your hobbies more, your goals are the roadmap to your future.

Why are goals important?

  • They help us understand you: Sharing your goals helps us get to know you better and what matters most to you.

  • They boost your motivation: Having something to work towards can be incredibly motivating.

  • They measure progress: Goals help you track your achievements and celebrate your successes.

Identifying Your Goals

Setting goals can be a big step, but it's an important one. Think of your goals as the roadmap to your future. To help you start thinking about what you want to achieve, ask yourself these questions:

  • What does a happy and fulfilling life look like to you?

  • How do you imagine your life in the future?

  • What's working well in your life right now?

  • What challenges are you facing?

  • What's most important to you right now?

  • What do you hope to achieve in the next year?

  • What are your career aspirations?

  • What kind of social life do you want?

Remember, it's okay to start small. Focus on achievable goals that can make a positive difference in your life. We're here to support you every step of the way.

Understanding NDIS Funding and Goals

Your NDIS funding is designed to support your disability-related needs. While your goals are valuable and can guide your plan, they don't directly determine your funding amount.

  • NDIS funding supports: Your NDIS funding can help you overcome barriers related to your disability that might prevent you from achieving your goals.

  • Other support: You might also receive support from family, friends, community groups, or other government services.

  • Goal setting: Setting goals is a great way to focus your planning, but it doesn't guarantee specific funding for those goals.

Your goals can be big or small. You might have goals that relate to your disability and others that don't. Not all goals will be funded by the NDIS. However, your NDIS supports can help you achieve some of your goals by addressing disability-related barriers.

How will you be supported?

We’ll work with you to understand what steps you can take to reach your goals and what supports you need. This might include NDIS supports, mainstream services, community support, or help from family and friends.

Examples:

  • Goal: Find part-time work using computer skills.

    • Supports: NDIS funding for personal care and behavior support to build independence, Centrelink for job-seeking assistance, and family support.

  • Goal: Go on holiday next year.

    • Supports: NDIS funding for support worker assistance with budgeting and money management, and family support with a weekly allowance.

We're here to support you in achieving your goals. We'll listen carefully, offer guidance, and help you create a plan that works for you.
